A web tool to collate research work and plan lessons: Wakelet

July 30 The weekly podcast on social media briefly discusses Wakelet as a site that allows you to put together digital information and add value to the content you curated. Given the vast amount of information on the internet that would be lost if not stored properly,  this would be a useful tool to essentially relocate your online resources by topics or tasks and work in ways as needed to complete the task.  I explored this tool and this is what I found. https://wakelet.com/collections Wakelet is a content curation platform where you can create engaging collections that can be shared and collaborated with your class, team, or community.  You can sign in as educators or students. Learning Safe Surfing through Games on FBI website

July 24 The US government provides an online resource where teachers and students can get help with cyber citizenship.  Welcome to sos.fbi.gov — FBI Safe Online Surfing (SOS)   https://sos.fbi.gov/en . This is a mission statement on the website: " The goal of FBI-SOS is to promote cyber citizenship and help students learn about online safety while engaging in fun, interactive games. The program was designed to address current Internet safety threats while keeping each grade level's online usage and knowledge in mind. We hope that you find the program beneficial and that your students use the information to make themselves safer digital citizens." This website is very intuitive to use. You simply select a a grade from 3-8 and the game is ready to go. You do not need instructions to play as it's clear from the outset what to do. Creating your own book with Storybird

July 13 Storybird - Read, write, discover, and share the books you'll always remember. I came across this tool on Hall, Nathan Webtools https://nathanghall.wordpress.com/webtools-no-registration-needed-for-students/   This online resource was included in Week 6's Reading and Assignment. It may be meant to help us with the website Resources assignment, which requires a wide range of webtools. Nathan Hall's page is a toolkit or a collection of webtools that anyone can use to explore their creativity or work on a project. The tool must meet four criteria. It's free. Teachers may have to register, but there is no need for students to sign in with an email or a social media account. The student can interact and be creative with the tool. TeachingBooks: Building deep connections to books

July 3 I explored this online database in another course. I will share what I discovered about this educational tool. TeachingBooks  TeachingBooks | Author & Book Resources to Support Reading Education https://school.teachingbooks.net/ This database is focused on connecting the readers with books and resources to enrich the reading experience and create educational value for K-12 students and teachers. The materials on this site can be used in educational and home settings. I did not sign in to an account, so I was not able to see the contents of documents such as activities and lessons tied with a title or Meet-the-Author recording. From what I was able to see and discover on the TeachingBooks.net, it has many valuable features. The most notable one, in my opinion is that the database was founded on the premises that there is a special value to see and hear authors talk about their works.
